Burning Of Stubble In The Coming Few Days…

Stubble burning: A problem for the environment, agriculture and humans

It is 15th October today, in India. Paddy crop has ripened. In a period of few days, harvest of rice will begun. So will be the beginning of stubble burning. Pollution level will rise again and smoke will mingle with fog to form smog. The news channels will fill with ‘government announcing ban on stubble burning’ (not like it is going to effect the condition anyway.)

We can’t just blame the farmers for burning the stubble. I interviewed a farmer some time back. The interview revealed the real reasons for stubble burning.

There are numerous small farmers in India who get barely enough to sow their next crop and survive. With already the less amount of income, we can’t expect them to hire labor in order to pick up the leftovers. They find it much easier and cost efficient to just throw a burning matchstick amidst the field that will slowly consume the stubble.

The bans imposed by the government do little help. Already farmers are facing the problem of low income; imposing fines on them just makes the situation worse.

What Can Be Done?

Government can play a big role in order to prevent stubble burning. Providing with cheap labor and transport facilities in order to transport the stubble to factories will surely help the case of stubble burning thus reducing the pollution levels. This will be a huge step to protect Earth from global warming.

Space Travel: A New Venture

Credit goes to Aerospace America

“There are billions of places out there that we know nothing about. The fact that we know nothing about them excites me, and I want to go out and find about them. The credit for these beautiful words goes to Brian Cox, a British physicist. I pretty much believe in these words. I myself want to explore the mysterious heavens…universe…a place draped in black with specks of stars that make it more beautiful.

Humans are…curious creatures. They can’t stay without revealing the mysteries of what lies around them. Suppose you don’t get to sleep for two days. You are going to be restless. The same goes for this nature of ours. We can’t sit and stare at our surroundings. We will have this thirst inside us. Thirst for knowledge. Thirst to reveal secrets.

It is this thirst, this desire that has driven us for past centuries. Encouraged Christopher Columbus to discover the Americas. Led to the discovery of fire and wheel. The thing that led to space exploration…ventures into space. And I doubt that these explorations will have any end.

The first artificial satellite was launched on October 4, 1957. It was a part of the Soviet Space program. Fun fact: it was only 23 inches in diameter and yet weighed 184 pounds.

A lot of progress was made in the first twenty years like sending the first living being in space, spacewalk and much more. When the first man was sent into space by the Soviets, the United States declared that it was in a space race with them. Neil Armstrong left the footprints of the human race on the moon. “That’s one small step for a man, , one giant leap for mankind,” he said, keeping his left foot on the moon. Then the focus shifted to cooperation with different countries that resulted in the formation of ISS: International Space Station.

Space exploration has an objective to understand the solar system and beyond with the first target being our neighbor: the moon. Another important target is Mars, the potential home to our future generations.

We all know about the facts like who was the first man in space or which probe was sent first. The important question is why space exploration? One reason as I already stated earlier is the curiosity of humans. But there are several other important reasons, one of them being the probable end of Earth in the coming centuries either due to natural powers or due to the actions of mankind.

In such a case, we have to save the human race. Of course, precaution is better than cure and we can change our ways of living to prevent the possible end of the blue planet but we have to be prepared for what comes. There can be an asteroid who doesn’t care whether the Earth survives or not and slams into us. There can be other phenomenons that can affect life on earth. Then there is the need to search for a place that can sustain the ever-growing population.

Let’s not miss the fact that we want to find signs of life somewhere else cause we can’t be alone in this vast place called universe. There might be those green things that we see in the movies somewhere out there. In the end I would like to say that space is an inspirational concept that allows you to dream big.

True words were said once:The day we stop exploring will be the day when we commit ourselves to living in a stagnant world, devoid of curiosity and empty of dreams .Thank you.

This is the speech I spoke today in a declamation contest.

Reviewing CAMILLA CABELLO’S CINDERELLA

7 Movies Like Cinderella 2021 to Watch After Camila Cabello's Remake
image taken from Collider

#spoiler alert

Released on 3rd September, 2021 on Amazon Prime Video, the movie has managed to add modern ideas to classic Cinderella story.

We all are familiar with the story of Cinderella: How her mother dies and her father marries another woman with two daughters of her own. Then Ella’s father dies and her stepmother and stepsisters show their true colors. We all know the tragedy she faces and the miserable life she lives until she meets her prince. This Knight In Shining Armor, entranced by her beauty at the ball, eventually marries her and saves her from the terrible life she was living.

The storyline of Cinderella 2021 is different from the original by some factor. The cruelty of the stepmother and stepsisters is reflected only to a certain measure. Her stepmother’s character is more developed and deep than the original one and shares a tragic past. The character of the stepsisters is not shown much.

Classical Cinderella (that’s what I am going to call her now) can be seen as a Damsel In Distress (no offense). The Modern Cinderella doesn’t want to depend on a man for a good life. She wants to pursue her dream of becoming a cloth designer if even if it costs her chances of becoming a queen or having a life with Prince Robert.

Prince Robert’s sister too wants to play a role in the administration of the kingdom though it is disapproved by her father. The King at various points can be seen just craving for power disregarding the feelings of his children and his wife. We do see character development at the end of the movie.

The movie basically reflects women empowerment, a modern idea. Ella wants to own cloth designing business despite being laughed at by other people. She knows what she wants and is ready to grab it at any costs. The same idea is reflected through Prince Robert’s sister.

The end is different too. Ella is able to embark on the journey of fulfilling her dreams. Robert accompanies her, passing the crown to her sister who is more than delighted to get it.

So it is an amazing movie with a different storyline. It is a perfect combo of women empowerment, comedy and musical.

Some Subjects in Schools:- Importance and my point of view…

#Week 1 theme:- Education

Unit vocabulary school subjects worksheet
Copyright goes to Liveworksheets.com

Why do I need to study history? Why physics? I don’t need to study geography? Who doesn’t ask these questions? I myself do. Like why do we even need to bother studying about kings who ruled in ancient times?

So I am going to tell the importance of subjects taught in schools and what I think about them. I am just going to give my point of view…so no offence.

1. Math

Ah…math…nightmare of millions. There is even a phobia of math. I wonder what it would be like to have numerophobia. Several of my classmates complain as to why they need to do more than basic calculations when they are not going use it anyway. Math is one of the most important subjects no matter how terrifying it seems to you. It widens your mind. You are able to think logically. Even if you are doing any small business, you will need math for calculating profit and loss. It is used in everywhere. Also, doing math will open the career opportunities for you. Also, math is my favourite subject. I love finding the answers to equations. Just imagine that you are a pirate in search of treasure and you will nail it.

2. Science

Biology, physics and chemistry…the main constituents of science. Well everybody knows importance of these three. Biology can be used to study the living beings. Why are plants green? Why do we need oxygen? All such queries can be solved if you study biology. Physics can help you understand about the events happening around you. What is holding you to the ground? Why can’t you just jump and fly in the sky? Chemistry…it is everywhere. Chemical reactions are taking place in your body. They lead to the blasting of an atomic bomb. (Plus, the arc reactor in our favourite hero Iron Man’s chest works on the basis of chemistry.)

3. History

A classmate of mine (member of WonderWorld now) often asks our history teacher as to why we need to study about the past. Everybody wants to know the answer. The thing is that history is taught so that we don’t make the mistakes that were made in the past. That’s one reason. It helps us in understanding the changes that have occurred over past. (I myself hate history. It doesn’t want to cooperate with me. It always tries to bring my grades down.) So though history might be boring, it still hold its value. According to me, only the basics of history should be taught in schools. Those who are interested in this field can advance after they have finished school.

These are the three main subjects that students often complain about. It just depends on interest level. If you like history you will think that it is very useful. If you hate math then you will curse its very existence. But each subject has its importance. No matter how much math, history and physics try to hate us…lets just open our arms and befriend them. I know…melodramatic.

That’s it. Hope you liked it. Best wishes with you.

Myths about scoring good grades and what I do:

6 Tips to Reduce Stress While Studying - Lonsdale Institute

On the beginner level of life, about the age 10 to 25, it is the time when you study, gain knowledge and plan your future. It is a crucial period and the more you use it wisely the more will your upcoming time shine.

There can be two types of people who score good marks. The first one are those who cram up the stuff. They push the things in their brain instead of the brain absorbing the knowledge. Such knowledge doesn’t retain for long. These kind of people usually start preparing just a month before the exams and get good grades.

Then there are those who have been studying since the session started. They let the brain gain stuff at its own pace instead of forcing it to drink everything at once. And the results are rewarding. Not only do they get good marks but the knowledge stays with them forever.

It is believed that those who score good marks in class study till late night, get up early in the morning, don’t watch television or play games. Some believe that they take books along with them to the toilets.

It is a myth…at least for the second type of people. They studied throughout the year at their own pace. They didn’t have to stay up t night to complete their notes or revise for tests. They had been doing it at regular basis. Also, they are children as well and of course they watch television and play video games.

But for the first type of students…they have to do everything in a month that should have been devoted a year. So long nights of math and science will be common for them. The television will stay off for a month or so. Also, they will be putting their mind under the pressure of so much stuff!

My best friend and me top the class and our class mates ask how much time do we study? Our answers shock them and some think we are lying. We say that we study just an hour off the school hours everyday. We do watch movies, play mobile games, read stories and novels.

So how to score good?

  1. Study at daily basis:- Devote at least an hour each day to study, just an hour. You can go for even half an hour. If you do this throughout the year, nothing can stop you from scoring good.
  2. Avoid going for tuition :- It is believed that if you go for extra classes, you will score better. I don’t and my performance doesn’t go down. If we pay attention to regular classes in the school, there would be no need for going to tuition. Plus, you will have extra time with yourself.
  3. Clear your doubts:- Clear your doubts side by side as the lesson is being taught and note down every important thing that the teacher has to say.
  4. Revise:- Once you are finished with a topic, revise it and do some extra research on it. You remember things better when you search about them by yourself.
  5. No cramming:- Don’t cram your notes. Read them. Reread them until you understand them. Ask for help form others.
  6. Study in a peaceful place without disturbance.
  7. Peace to mind:- Don’t study for the whole day. Go out and enjoy the sun…or the clouds if it is a cloudy day. (I love a cloudy day 🙂 ) This will calm your mind.
  8. Sleep:-Sleep is very important as at this time your brain sorts out everything you have done that day. It refreshes you for a new day.
  9. Self- Confidence:- At last, believe in yourself. If you have studied well then believe in yourself. Low confidence can cause nervousness and anxiety. It increases the chances of making a mistake.

These steps when followed will fetch you amazing marks and a golden future. Best of luck in your preparations.

A Million Dreams…

Dreams: Causes, types, meaning, what they are, and more

I didn’t watch the movie ‘The Greatest Showman’ but I did listen to the song ‘A Million Dreams’. It is one of the best and incomparable songs. It actually depicts reality.

We wish to achieve something or another. We have dreams and goals. Each one of us wants to do something or reach somewhere. Some of these aspiration can be quite common like: “I want to buy a house” or “I want to go to Europe”.

Then there are other dreams like: “I want to go to space” or “I want to be the richest person in the world.”

No doubt, all dreams are important for everyone. No dream is big or small. What might be important for someone might not be for someone else. But what I want to tell today is the importance of following your dreams.

We live for 66 years as an approximate value. It is not much. What we wish might sound absurd to others. As the song says, people think that we are crazy for believing that we can do something like that.

This might lower our self-confidence and we might stop chasing after our goals. And believe me, we will soon be regretting it. It is the habit of people to discourage others. They are going to stop you directly or indirectly from achieving your dreams.

But it will depend on you that do you want to listen to them or not. Do you want to believe your guts or their words? Do you want to be satisfied or regret it later? Do you want to just stop dreaming or prove them that dreaming was worthless?

There are going to be very less people who will actually support you to do what you want to. Others will fail to see through your point of view. They will fail to open their imagination. They will not believe in: “Nothing Is Impossible.”

You will have to find people who can be with you. Who can push you ahead instead of pulling you back to stand with the herd.

Follow your dreams. If you have to go through the sea then do it. Work hard. And…ignore critics and those who don’t trust in your dreams. When you reach there, the happiness and satisfaction will not be explainable. Best Of Luck on your journey.

What is Global Warming?

Global warming is quite a renowned topic. With millions of articles published on this issue, no wonder it has reached every corner of the world. The issue of global warming is creating panic among the citizens of Earth who are demanding for a solution. The panic is genuine for as the figures are showing, the increasing temperature of Earth can lead to the extinction of human race. So we need to answer to the call of Mother Earth.

A blanket of air, also known as Atmosphere surrounds the Earth. It is the very reason that keeps the Earth habitable. Heat from the sun reaches our planet, Some of it gets absorbed. Out of the reflected part, some escapes into the space while the other gets trapped by the atmosphere. This makes our planet warm and habitable. The gases that trap the heat are known as Greenhouse Gases like Carbon Dioxide. This is the Greenhouse Effect.

Similar effect takes place in an actual Greenhouse: a structure made by glass. It is used for growing plants. This structure traps the heat by the help of glass making the Greenhouse warm.

What is Global warming?

As the humans are developing, they are causing harm to the nature by global warming. Coal and other fossil fuels are widely used these days in almost every machine. These fuels produce greenhouse gases like Methane, Nitrous Oxide etc. Carbon Dioxide’s amount in the atmosphere too increases.

Now more and more heat will be absorbed by these gases. This will eventually increase the temperature of Earth. This is called Global Warming.
